About Sasa Coffee

This is the finest Bugisu Arabica coffee from carefully selected gardens at an altitude above 2000 metres above sea level on the slopes of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda. The rich volcanic soils give it caramel flavours which are well balanced with the medium and smooth lively acidity all through. Roasted and packaged by Sasa Coffee Trading Company, plot 32 Buwalasi view, Mbale, Eastern Uganda.



Business Desciption


Sasa coffee trading company (U) Ltd is a private limited company that was established in July 2016. It owns 70% of the value chain; it is a fair-trade and organic certified company whose mission is to cause a positive change in the livelihoods of farmers by linking them to advantageous markets that offer a higher price for their fair-trade and organic certified coffee.

Sasa coffee company is working with farmers from Bunade Growers cooperative Enterprise to bring to you the best quality certified coffees with unique and special attributes. Our Mt. Elgon blend is one of the products we offer to the market, it has a medium and smooth lively acidity therefore proof that the coffee beans are carefully selected so as to bring about the balance in cup quality.

Bunabude G.C.S has a total number of 500 members and a production capacity of 6 containers or more per season, at an altitude between 1800-2100 metres above sea level. Farmers grow varieties like SL- 14, SL-28, Nyasaland commonly known as Bugisu local because they do well in highlands.

Sasa Coffee’s product and / or service offering includes Robusta FAQ coffee and Arabica coffee such as WUGAR (Washed Ugandan -Arabica), DRUGAR (Dried Ugandan- Arabica) and Parchment. In addition the company provides coffee export services to those without export licenses Roastery services, Barista Training, Coffee shop outlets, Coffee shop Equipment support and General Accessories

Objectives

The strategic objectives of Sasa Coffee Trader include:
a) To increase gross margins from one percent (1%) to two percent (2%) in the next three years.
b) To increase hulling factories capacity during the peak season from 0 tons per day to 100 tons per day by 2016.
c) To develop a network of 10 coffee buying / collecting centers in the major coffee producing areas by 2016.
d) To Roast and serve fresh gourmet coffee to its global consumers.
e) To serve the fresh brewed cup coffee to its coffee shop patrons.
f) 50 BY 50 Profit margin shared with farmers


Location and Facilities

Sasa Coffee Traders located on Plot 46 6th street industrial area Kampala The company is strategically located at the premises of the company providing processing/ware housing services. The premises are easily accessible as they are located within industrial business area.

The location has easy access to infrastructure such as the national water and sewage system, the national electricity grid and telephone communication.

Bugisu Co-operative Coffee Factory is located in the heart Mbale District 1 km from trading township. This district is surrounded by many other coffee growing districts, like mafwa, Sironko, Kapchorwa that makes up greater elgon region. The factory is easily accessible by a tarmac road and is connected to the national electricity power grid and has access to spring water suitable for factory use. The factory is developed on private mailo land covering 10 acres. 75% of the land is developed while 25% is available space for expansion.
Kasambira Coffee Factory is located in Eastern Uganda along Kamuli road. The factory is easily accessible by a murrum road and is connected to the national electricity power grid and has access to spring water suitable for factory use. The factory is developed on private mailo land covering 13 acres. 50% of the land is developed while 50% is available space for expansion.
Namaliri Coffee Factory is located in Kayunga District along Mukono-Kayunga road, 7 miles from Kayunga Town. This location is surrounded by many coffee plantations. The factory is easily accessible by a tarmac road and is connected to the national electricity power grid and has access to spring water suitable for factory use. The factory is developed on private mailo land covering 30 acres. 45% of the land is developed including a coffee plantation while 55% is available space for expansion.
Kanoni Coffee Factory is located in Kanoni trading Centre in Gomba District. This location is surrounded by many coffee plantations. The factory is easily accessible by a mar-rum road and is connected to the national electricity power grid and has access to spring water suitable for factory use. The factory is developed on private mailo land covering 5 acres. 45% of the land is developed including a coffee plantation while 55% is available space for expansion.
Lwankuba coffee factory is located on Mubende road, five kilometers from the main highway Fort-Portal Kasese road the factory boosts of its good location, small holders farmers and access to electricity and clean water. The factory is developed on mailo land.
